Working together with Torfaen County Council, Ministry of Furniture provided a full project management service. The result was a great learning environment for all the pupils.
Background
Part of the regeneration of Primary Education in the borough; Llantarnam Community Primary School forms one piece of a three school redevelopment. Llantarnam Community Primary School has been relocated to the site of the former Llantarnam Comprehensive School, Blenheim Road Community Primary School is a replacement on the current site, and Ysgol Panteg has been relocated from two separate sites in Griffithstown/Kemys Fawr, to a single site on Station Road, and The new schools are being match funded by Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Education Programme, a unique collaboration between the Welsh Government, the Welsh Local Government Association and councils. It is a major, long-term and strategic capital investment programme with the aim of creating modern learning environments in Wales.
The Challenge
Torfaen County Council and Ministry of Furniture teamed up again to deliver another Primary School for the local community. Ministry were asked to specify, supply, space plan and project manage all the furniture for Llantarnam Community Primary School. Again, consideration had to be given to the different age ranges in the school. From Nursery and Reception classes all the way up to Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11).
At Ministry, we were required to produce working drawings of the project and maintain them, amending the layout as and when needed.
The Solution
Our Projects Team engaged with Torfaen County Council at the tender stage of this project. Using our extensive experience and knowledge of furniture for the educational environment, our team chose the perfect products to fulfil the needs of the pupils whilst remaining within the budget constraints.
Multiple on-site meetings and drawing revisions were handled “in house” to give the fitters on site continuity and single point of contact, reducing any possible misunderstandings.
All installation teams were managed by our Supply Chain and Logistics Specialists who oversaw the complicated and multi phased installation. As standard on a project of this size, we provided an on-site Project Manager to oversee the final install of all the furniture.
The Benefits
Ministry of Furniture provided a full design and project planning service for Torfaen County Council, taking away any worries or concerns during the tender process. One point of contact for the client ensured that issues were identified and addressed before they became problems.
Our experience and expertise across the full range of education furniture allowed the client to have total faith and peace of mind that the specified furniture would meet the requirements laid out.
The rooms created are stylish and modern with elements of fun mixed, giving students and the local community an inspiring learning environment for many years to come.
