Swansea City, the Ospreys, and Ministry of Furniture are working together for those in need this Christmas with our ‘Whose Coat is that Jacket?’ campaign, and we want your help.
Originally launched by the Swans as Give a Jack a Jacket back in 2016 the scheme aims to provide the homeless and those in need with warm layers of clothing to help them fight the chill at this time of year.
As part of the initiative, the Swans and the Ospreys will donate a number of club coats and jackets, and we are calling on supporters to join the effort with any donations of their own they would like to make.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, over 2,000 donations were previously handed out to those in need, and the club is once again hoping to help people facing difficulties this winter.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been deeply felt throughout Swansea and the wider community when it comes to unemployment, homelessness and food provisions.
Swansea City has attempted to play its part in helping those in need in the local area during the pandemic, including aiding with donations of hot meals, and making the Swansea.com Stadium available for NHS staff training and as a Covid-19 testing centre.
In these hard times, the club is determined to do what it can to help the local community and, together with the Ospreys, in association with Ministry of Furniture, hope the ‘Whose Coat is that Jacket?’ initiative will keep as many people as possible warm this Christmas.
“This year we felt it imperative to widen our commitment to our local communities by trying to donate as many warm jackets and coats as possible to those that need them,” said Julian Winter, Swansea City’s CEO.
“We are all acutely aware of the challenges faced by so many at this time of year and, as a club that prides itself on being at the heart of its community, we wanted to play our part in helping those in need this Christmas.”
Ospreys CEO, Nick Garcia, added: “The Ospreys and Swansea City are key parts of the area’s sense of community and identity and this is why we want to call on both Ospreys and Swans’ fans to bring warm jackets and coats to the Swansea.com Stadium in order for us to help our community this winter.”
The drop off point for donations will be at main reception at the Swansea.com Stadium from Monday, December 13 to Sunday, December 19. Pleasure ensure any clothing is in good condition and not faulty.
Ospreys’ fans are also welcome to bring their donations to the home fixture against Sale Sharks on Sunday, December 12.
“We are calling on all Swansea City and Ospreys’ fans to please help us make a difference to those in need this winter,” said Ministry of Furniture CEO, Graham Hirst.
“You can bring your jackets and coats to the stadium for us to deliver to those in need before Christmas.
“Our offices in Baglan Energy Park will also be a drop off location from December 13 to December 19, so feel free to come on down to donate.”
